The image of library depends upon the functions of Circulation Section because a majority of the users in academic libraries interact with the staff of this Circulation Section. For library transactions (i.e., for issue and return of documents), the Central Library Counter is open between 10:15 AM and 4:30 PM on all working days and 10:30 AM and 3:00PM on Sundays.
Acquisition Section procures library documents-books and non-book material to build the collection or add stock to the library. Acquisition functions include selection of documents as well as suppliers, verification, placing purchase orders, receiving, accessioning, and providing information to indenters regarding status of ordered documents, and processing bills for payment. The Librarian takes into consideration the AICTE Norms, relevancy of the titles, books already available on the same subject and funds available. General interest and reference needs of the users are also taken into consideration by the Librarian.
OPEN Book Stack: Here near about 18000 books of 20 departments both science and arts are present and students can choose their required books by him/herself.
Popular Section: In these section popular books like story books, novels, etc. have kept. These books are only used in reading purpose. No home issue is allowed for this section.
The Library provides photocopying facilities allowed within the copyright rules. An amount of 50 paise per page is charged for the facility.
The Career Guidance Section is very important Section and part and parcel of a College Library. This section holds a vast collection of Career Guide Book Specially for students and unemployed youths. This section provides Entrance examination books, competitive examination books; General knowledge books, current affairs journal & Magazines etc. At present there are 200 books in the career guidance section of Central Library which are very helpful for the candidates of competitive examination and higher study purpose. Every day near about 10 users attend in this section and collect information as per their requirement.
Optimum utilization of print and digital resources of the library, through meaning full interaction with the users, is an important feature of the reference service. The Central Library provides information and referral services to the library users. It covers familiarizing new users with the library stack area, reference and digital resources available in the library and their access information.
OPAC Section: An Online Public Access Catalog, commonly known as OPAC, is a digital database that stores information about various materials such as books, authors, genres, journals, and other resources that are available in a library.
